Ant-Man And The Wasp: 19 WTF Moments

5. Giant-Man Breaks The Fourth Wall

Much like that aforementioned wardrobe dialogue near the start of the movie, this is one of those moments that just feels like it was ad-libbed on set, because as wonderfully ridiculous as the line is, it's hard to imagine anyone actually writing it out of thin air.

When Sonny Burch attempts to evade Scott with the Pym lab in tow, Scott takes his Giant-Man form in an attempt to stop him. After he realises Burch has fled to a whale boat, he quizzically quips, "How did he even have time to buy a ticket?"

Even if you accept the possibility that Burch just sneaked onto the boat, this honestly feels like a meta attempt to paper over Burch's speedy escape by bringing it to the audience's attention. Hell, perhaps Peyton Reed realised the sequence seemed a bit rushed in editing and called Paul Rudd in to add the line via the wonders of ADR dubbing.

Either way, it's one of the movie's best low-key laughs and exactly the sort of weird, fourth-wall-breaking incidental dialogue these movies need more of.
