Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania - 8 Reasons It Sucks
4. MODOK
Jesus wept, what is this monstrosity?!
A CGI abomination that wouldn't look out of place in 2019's Cats, MODOK (Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing) - who, as most people will be able to guess, is actually Darren Cross from the first Ant-Man - is probably one of the worst characters ever to feature in an MCU product.
For starters, he looks worse than awful; that giant CGI version of Corey Stoll's head is something that hit the bottom of the Uncanny Valley and kept digging. But then, as if that wasn't bad enough, he's also a ridiculously unintimidating and stupid villain who does little more than serve as the butt of (thoroughly unfunny) jokes all the way through.
Essentially, Quantumania takes an iconic and beloved Marvel antagonist and turns him into a complete joke. The film also tries to give him a redemption storyline but sadly, that too is about as rushed and underdeveloped as it gets.
MODOK comes dangerously close to upstaging Malekith the Dark Elf from Thor the Dark World as the worst MCU villain of all time, and comparisons to other cringe-worthy disasters of superhero movie villainy like Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy or Vinnie Jones' Juggernaut would be perfectly valid. He really is that awful.
