Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania - 8 Reasons It Sucks

3. Cassie Is Very Annoying

Recently, it's seemed like Marvel Studios have been on a mission to ruin pretty much every once-good character in their series; Cassie Lang (now played by Freaky's Kathryn Newton) is the latest casualty of this trend.

In the previous films, Cassie was an exceptionally likable and charming child character and Scott's reunion with a teenage Cassie in Avengers: Endgame was seriously moving, but now? All that likability's gone out of the window.

In Quantumania, Cassie is a snarky and irritating teenager who's does little more than complain and pick on her dad, and it's damn-near impossible to root for her at all. The film seems to serve as a launching pad for the character as a superhero but her growth throughout the film is clumsily written and a big speech she gives during the third act to rally the Quantumania residents against Kang is very uninspiring.

Kathryn Newton is absolutely solid in the part, but she didn't get the good writing she deserved and frankly, she feels wasted here. She is a very good actress and much like other recent MCU additions, one really feels she deserves better than to be saddled with a part in this dying franchise.
