Ant-Man And The Wasp Review: 6 Ups & 5 Downs

3. Michael Douglas Gets More To Do

One of the movie's most pleasant surprises is just how much Michael Douglas is given to do as Hank Pym.

For starters, he's blessed with some of the film's funniest one-liners - especially when disapproving of Scott pining for his daughter - and actually gets far more involved in the movie's central conflict.

It helps that Pym has direct emotional ties to both of the movie's major plots, and though these threads aren't necessarily played off as well as they could be, it's still great to see Douglas getting a ton of screen time and basically making the most of it.

Considering how easy it would've been to scale his role back in favour of a beefed-up part for Hope, it's satisfying to see the 73-year-old Douglas being an active fixture in a superhero movie.
