After 14 years and counting in the MCU, it’s understandable that the franchise is beginning to push through some new blood. The likes of Riri Williams, Sam Wilson, Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, and Jennifer Walters are seemingly stepping into the shoes of the original Avengers, but what about Ant-Man?

Scott Lang has been in the MCU for seven years now, and with the completion of his trilogy of movies, it feels like there is a real risk that he won’t see the end of it. What more of an emotional gut punch could the movie offer than the death of Ant-Man?

There is a ready-made replacement for Lang being built-up in the form of his daughter. Should Cassie step into the superhero world as Stature, she could assume her father’s place just like the above characters seem to be doing for the Avengers.

Then there is the fact that he is going up against Kang the Conqueror. If this new big bad is to be on the same level as Thanos, he simply cannot come in and lose his first fight, even if he is just one of many Variants. It feels like Kang has to defeat Ant-Man, and with the Avenger looking battered, bloodied, and bruised toward the end of the trailer, this just may happen.
