Aquaman: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

Now everything mentioned up until now is all well and good, but what about the titular character? The one responsible for bringing Arthur Curry to life needs to nail it or else the whole thing wouldn't work. Thankfully, with Jason Mamoa in that central role, Aquaman has an actor who is perfectly balanced. He'll be able to nail the comedic moments, establish an imposing presence, and be able to sell those more heartfelt moments all at once.

Although Mamoa has plenty of talent, it seems he's never had the chance to fully realize his potential. His most iconic character, Khal Drogo, was his only real role that could've been great, but he never stuck around long enough. Aquaman gives Mamoa the acting challenge he needs; a man/Atlantean hybrid who's struggling with his sense of self and his purpose, all while accepting his responsibility to rule the Kingdom of Atlantis. It's a suitably meaty role that Mamoa can really dig into and make his own.

If all goes as planned, Mamoa will earn himself a permanent place in DC fans' hearts as he establishes himself as the one and only Aquaman, much like Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill did with Wonder Woman and Superman.
