14. Eating A Rose

At one point, Mera and Arthur head to Sicily as part of their quest for the Ark of the Covenant... sorry, their quest for the National Treasure... SORRY, their quest to find the special Trident. The sequence is supposed to show them bonding on their journey as they experience the locals at a market eating fresh produce and being all Sicilian and romantic.

The scene culminates in a fascinated Mera seeing locals eating fruit and then being given a bouquet of roses, which she promptly eats and invites Arthur to eat as well. We're supposed to think it's adorable and that she simply hasn't a clue because she's lived under the sea for so long. Like Ariel from the Little Mermaid using a fork to brush her hair.

Except, there are flowers underwater, aren't there? Why would she not know what a flower is? Idiots.
