Arnold Schwarzenegger: Every Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Red Heat (1988)

One of the more underrated entries on the actor's filmography, Red Heat marks Arnie's first foray into the buddy cop genre as his uptight Moscow detective Ivan Danko is paired with Jim Belushi's motormouth Chicago cop in Walter Hill's energetic actioner. While it sticks rigidly to the conventions of the genre, the chemistry between the two leads and some hard-hitting action greatly elevates the material. Playing down his usual penchant for one-liners and presenting a more reserved and stoic character allowed for some great banter between the mismatched leading duo. Of course, this being an Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle directed by the man that made The Warriors, Southern Comfort and 48 Hrs, Red Heat is no slouch in the action stakes either and also delivers some bruising set-pieces.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
