Atomic Blonde Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. It's Darkly Hilarious

Though this is a film rife with brutal scenes in which people don't die well or easily, it's all shot through with a healthy sprinkling of gallows humour.

From a sequence where Broughton uses a rope to give an attacker an hilariously over-the-top beat-down to not one but two oddly comedic stabbing scenes alongside plenty of pithy one-liners, Atomic Blonde certainly doesn't make the mistake of taking itself too seriously.

The banter between Theron and basically any man in her immediate vicinity is particularly amusing, especially McAvoy, who can't help but turn almost every interaction with her into a flirting contest.
