Avengers 2: 10 Things You Need To Know About New Characters
4. Who REALLY Creates Ultron?
Ultron was the creation of Hank Pym in the comics, who was one of the founding Avengers. Pym has used his size-changing abilities in a number of different identities over the yearsAnt-Man, Giant-Man, Goliath, Yellowjacket, and the Wasp. When it was revealed that Ultron would be Tony Starks creation in the movies, many people believed Pym was being completely excised from the story. But that may not exactly be the case. The official synopsis for Avengers: Age of Ultron says that Stark attempts to jump-start a dormant peacekeeping project. In the upcoming Ant-Man film, Hank Pym is being reimagined as an older character, played by Michael Douglas. Perhaps this dormant peacekeeping project is one that Hank Pym developed, perhaps alongside Howard Stark? That would allow the movie to retain Ultrons connection to Pym in some small way, while still tying Ultron into Tony Stark. Pym could very well have designed Ultron and then Stark could have taken the project to new heights, incorporating his armor into it to give Ultron a physical body with which to act from. We do know that in Ant-Man, Pym had a reason to go into retirement. That reason could have something to do with Ultron, perhaps something that resulted in the death of his wife, Jan?
