We already know Doctor Strange is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - his name was mentioned in passing by Jasper Sitwell in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and his own movie was given a director in the last couple of days - but we haven't seen him yet and the third Avengers movie could be a way to introduce him. That said, he might have already appeared in his own movie by then, but he still qualifies for this list as he is a character we haven't seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, given that filming hasn't started and we haven't even been given our actor for the role at this stage. Doctor Strange was a key character in the Infinity Gauntlet comic arc. A powerful sorcerer, he was part of the team who were working behind the scenes to think of ways to stop Thanos (along with the aforementioned Doctor Doom, the Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Pip the Troll and Rintrah) and his magical know-how and foresight would be of great use to the Avengers and their allies in the movie version of the story.
