7. Phil Coulson Returns To The Movie Series
That long-rumoured Marvel movie-TV crossover still hasn't happened, but according to a fan theory that has gained traction online, it might with Avengers 4.
Agents of SHIELD is firmly rooted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has run storylines that have tapped into the events of the films in the past.
With this in mind, some fans have jumped on the idea that Phil Coulson and his agents will be unable to resist the urge to take part in the good fight against Thanos in Avengers 4, and these rumours only intensified when Anthony Russo dodged a question about Clark Gregg (the actor who plays Coulson) cameoing in one of his Avengers movies during the Infinity War press tour, CBR reports.
In story terms, it makes sense that Coulson would seek out the remaining Avengers to lend assistance when people started disintegrating, but there's no evidence to suggest Marvel is planning to break down the barrier between its TV and film properties.
That said, a Coulson cameo in Avengers 4 would no doubt delight some of the fans, since he was a popular figure in the MCU, but bringing him back into the movies would come at a cost. It would undermine the sacrifice he made in the original Avengers, even more than resurrecting him on the small screen already has.
