Avengers 4: 10 Theories From The Endgame Trailer

For as long as there have been rumors of Tony Stark's death in these films, there have also been rumors of Steve Roger's death.

Considering that this has been pretty heavily rumored for pretty much every film Cap has appeared in since Civil War back in 2016, it's no real surprise that Marvel is teasing it once again here with emotional moments like Cap saying a quasi-goodbye to Black Widow or having him look at his compass with a picture of Peggy Carter. And while the bulk of the trailer seems to want viewers to think it's Tony whose life hangs in the balance here, there's always the chance that Marvel is purposefully misdirecting our attention so that Steve's death will be even more shocking.

Chris Evans did rather infamously post his own quasi-goodbye of sorts after wrapping filming, which led a great many outlets to speculate he would meet his end in Avengers 4. However, the Russos have since attempted to quiet that down by saying that they expect to see a lot more of him in the MCU. But also, keep in mind these are the same Russos that flat-out said a few months ago the title of Avengers 4 would not be Endgame, and here we are.

So they're certainly not above lying in interviews to protect a secret.
