3. The Survivors Will Lay Down Their Lives For The Victims

The Rumour

Though Captain America insisted that the Avengers "don't trade lives", one of the most compelling rumours attached to Avengers 4 is that the surviving band of heroes - pretty much all of whom are the original Avengers line-up, will sacrifice themselves to bring those who were lost back to life.

They would essentially be paying the cost of souls to the Soul Stone, which probably has the power to undo Thanos' kill spree more than any of the other Stones but which seems to be subject to the strangest rules. Gamora's death foreshadowed all of this, after all.

We know that some of the veterans will retire before Phase 4 and killing them off in normal circumstances might not be a grand enough occasion. But then giving their lives up for a new generation would absolutely fit the ideals of the Avengers and everything they stand for.

Plus, the first synopsis for the film - which leaked fairly recently - specifically mentions a grave sacrifice, so that certainly fits.
