Avengers Age Of Ultron: 10 Biggest Moments Of Foreshadowing

10. Arnim Zola & His Algorithm (Captain America: The Winter Soldier)

Arnim Zola first appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger, as a research assistant of HYDRA's leader the Red Skull. In the comic books, Zola implanted his consciousness in a robotic body, so his initial inclusion suggested that robotic characters may be on the way, but it was his appearance in the sequel that really highlighted that potential. Zola's body had long perished, but his consciousness had been implanted into S.H.I.E.L.D. computers, having started to work for them prior to his death. With S.H.I.E.L.D. having been infiltrated by HYDRA, however, he was still evil and had developed an algorithm that worked out which individuals around the world were going to be a threat to HYDRA. As a result, technology around the world turned against good people with the power or potential power to hurt HYDRA. This emphasised the fact that technology could be corrupted to work against the world and was the first time heroic characters - in this case Captain America and his allies - were forced to fight against it.
