1. It's Sort Of A Bummer
Well, it is. Avengers: Age Of Ultron isn't the kind of blockbuster flick that has you walking out of the theatre with a smile on your face. It's the kind of blockbuster that has you wandering out into the sunlight with a weird feeling of unease building in your stomach as you try to comprehend whether or you not you enjoyed the movie or not. Which is, of course, the polar opposite of the feeling that the first movie left audiences with. After all, The Avengers was fun; it didn't take itself too seriously (despite the apocalyptic plottings) and took its time to build to a climax that felt earned in its scale. So it's weird that a Joss Whedon-helmed sequel could leave one feeling so down in the dumps in the aftermath - there's a noticeable lack of fun to his blockbuster follow-up. Ultimately, Avengers: Age Of Ultron isn't a bad movie, but it isn't a great one, either. Its saving grace happens to be the fact that it is far too weird to be considered mediocre; it occupies a very strange cinematic territory - curious on account of its peculiarity.
