Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Reasons It's The Weirdest MCU Movie Ever

8. It Feels Like A First Draft

"Unpolished" is the word that springs to mind. Joss Whedon experienced a period of exhaustion whilst making of the film, which means that it's at least apparent why the movie feels rough for a reason - given the size of the production, it came with lots of inherent problems. And it's this feeling of exhaustion that lingers as you sit through Age Of Ultron, with several scenes simply feeling as though they were just shot as quickly as possible - without much care or passion. There's a real sense that much of the movie was made in a hurry, in fact, or was turned out under considerable pressure, or that the sum of Age Of Ultron is essentially a filmed first draft: a hodgepodge of ideas, characters and events that needed to be tweaked and rearranged into a more consistent whole. Which never happened, of course, due to time and studio pressure. Which means that "unpolished" ends up translating as plainly weird - especially since this is a Marvel film; most movies are turned out with factory-like precision.
