Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruin It
4. Character Progression Is Non-Existent (And Backwards)
This is the thing that most people are going to have the biggest problem with - the fact that huge parts of AoU are just retreading old ground over again. Suddenly even though the close of the first Avengers proved Banner had gotten Hulk under control, he's apparently lost that ability again - instead requiring Black Widow to perform a 'lullaby' that calms him down. Without it he supposedly goes on any number of rampages, but again at the close of this film we see Bruce in full control again, smiling at Widow as Hulk before getting stuck into the fight, and rescuing her later on for good measure. It's a brazen repeat of the first film, and in a way that connotes the stupidest inconsistency of Dark Knight Rises, with Bruce suddenly becoming a recluse after Rachel's death despite the fact he already accepted that his parents had died. Iron Man too almost does away with the third movie in his canon, as come the close of 3 Stark had decided to shut the book on donning the suit, with the future of his role in the Avengers up for gra- actually no, there he is right away, completely at peace with the whole thing and fighting alongside everyone as normal. It's maddening.
