By the end of the movie, Marvel had finally grown the stomach to actually start killing off meaningful characters with Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Pietro laying down his life to save Hawkeye. Inevitably, that leaves emotional scars, not least on her sister, but also on Barton himself, who was basically walking Dead Meat for the majority of the film.

As a tribute to his fellow Avengers, it is revealed in the wrap-up sequence that the Bartons have named their new-born son Nathaniel Pietro, as his baby-gro proudly states.
