Avengers: Age Of Ultron Ending - What Happens And What Does It Mean?

3. Captain America Moves On

What Happens: In one of the ending's quieter moments, Steve Rogers finally moves on from his "man out of time" status. When Tony muses about settling down with Pepper, Cap reveals that he's no longer the man who cared about such things (he never came out of the ice), leaving the past behind him. What Does It Mean: The vision Scarlet Witch gave Steve, which put him at a post-war party with Peggy Carter, offering him the chance to live a normal life, wasn't dwelled on much in the movie, but this moment shows that it's been on his mind a lot. And, rather than longing for the life he could have had, he's finally made the choice to focus on his new life as leader of the New Avengers. This sets the stage for a highly moral Captain America in Civil War, while also allowing for some conflict when he next comes across Bucky Barnes; the Winter Soldier has obviously had had less time to adjust to the modern day.
