6. Quicksilver
How Would It Change The Franchise? Quicksilver, along with his sister the Scarlet Witch, will be appearing in the new film. But will he last? While Quicksilver is an Avenger in the comics, he's not considered the stalwart that his sister is, frequently running off (heh) on his own to join up with other teams, like X-Factor. And with Quicksilver also appearing in Fox's upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, Marvel may not want to deal with any potential legal issues that might arise in the future. There's also a potential story in this, too. As much as I absolutely despised the Avengers: Disassembled story-line that showed the Scarlet Witch going crazy and trying to destroy the Avengers, it was written by Brian Michael Bendis. He's Marvel's golden boy and aspects of his god-awful Avengers run have made their way into the films already: he created Maria Hill and Avengers Tower and the Age of Ultron title was taken from a comic he wrote. Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch have always been depicted as being very close, so his death could lead to an Avengers: Disassembled movie at some point in the future where Wanda goes nuts and becomes a villain.
Will it Happen?I sincerely hope not. But it is a possibility because, as said before, it could serve as a way to avoid any legal entanglements with Fox. While both companies can use the character as long as certain conditions are met (Marvel can't call him a mutant or the son of Magneto and Fox can't make any references to the Avengers), it's still sort of a sticky situation. And as Fox proved with Watchmen, they aren't above being petty when it comes to demanding their cut. Offing Quicksilver could avoid that problem altogether in future installments.
