Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 13 Biggest Questions We Want Answered
7. How Did Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver Get Their Powers?
Thor is an Asgardian demi-god, Iron Man wears a suit of powered armour, Captain America took part in a super-soldier experiment and Hulk was exposed to large amounts of gamma radiation - that is how the heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have gained their extraordinary powers and abilities so far. But what about Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver? These guys are very unique, it would seem. In the comic books, they are mutants, but "mutant" is a term that Marvel Studios aren't allowed to use, due to Fox having the rights to it, and "miracles" has been touted as the potential alternative to be used in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But are they humans who were simply born with an extra gene? Were they subjected to experiments? Or did Loki's staff - as seen in the possession of Baron Strucker in the Captain America: The Winter Soldier mid-credits scene - have something to do with the granting of their powers, given that Strucker suggested it had more potential than people previously thought? It's certainly going to be interesting to see how these characters are portrayed and what the source of their powers are, given the unique interpretation of them that Marvel Studios are having to create.
