Avengers: Endgame - 10 Biggest UNANSWERED Questions We Still Have

10. Doesn't Thanos Destroying The Stones Break Everything?

For as much as I've been trying and trying (and trying) to make sense of Endgame's convoluted time-travel nonsense/fun, the one plot point that doesn't line up with anything, be it multi-verse or an all-in-one reality, is Thanos' reveal from the beginning.

Centred on the fact that when the Avengers get back to the Mad Titan's hut, he states that the stones have been destroyed, this directly contradicts The Ancient One's comments to Bruce Banner, involving their position in the cosmos.

Because outside the fact we've been told repeatedly in other movies (Guardians 1 and Infinity War in particular) that the Stones are what created reality as we know it, The Ancient One reiterates that they need to be placed in their respective timelines, for time itself to continue flowing.

As the movie goes on, you come to accept this, and when Cap drops the Stones back off just before the credits, that's all well and good.

Only... Thanos outright destroyed the Stones at the very beginning, and that - if The Ancient One is correct - would've broken the universe right there and then.
