Avengers: Endgame - 10 Scenes Everyone Expected To See (That Didn't Happen)

8. We Go Inside The Soul Stone

After Thanos snaps his fingers in Infinity War, we see him talking to young Gamora in an orangish land that’s eerily reminiscent of the soul stone. Fans theorized that maybe Gamora, and the rest of the vanished, are stuck inside the stone and thus not actually dead. With a little research, fans could have nipped this theory in the bud.

The directors did confirm that this is supposed to be the soul stone, though never specified it as literal or metaphorical. The Film’s visual effects artist Kelly Port said in an interview that she saw it as, “Open to interpretation.” She added, “"It's this really nice dramatic pause at basically the culmination of 10 years of storytelling, right? It's this moment where he can just have this moment to internally reflect on what he's done and the cost of that decision."

Though it’s not 100% confirmed by the film, it does seem like the vanished were truly dead, and the lack of the audience seeing them in an alternate reality or in the Soul Stone proves as evidence.

If you talk in a theatre I'm in, be prepared to get some pretty passive aggressive stares.
