Avengers: Endgame - 13 Things It Actually Took From The Comics
3. Iron Man Uses The Infinity Gems
It's impossible to take away from just how brilliant and unique Endgame's handling of Tony Stark's fate was, but even though the way in which it played out didn't involve any major cues from the comics, the image of Iron Man wielding the gems was featured in a Marvel book not so long ago.
About a decade ago, the smartest minds among Earth's Mightiest Heroes banded together to form the Illuminati, a shadowy group of heroes determined to rid the Infinity Gems from existence. They balls it up, which leads to a whole host of unfortunate events involving the multiverse, but for a moment, their procuring of the stones does come in handy.
Facing the Hood, who had stolen various other Infinity Gems, Iron Man becomes the first human to wield the power of the Infinity Gauntlet. He sends the Hood to prison, and then pretends to destroy all of them using the help of the Gauntlet.
Not nearly as heroic as his sacrifice in Endgame, but at least there's no arguing with how John Romita Jr. managed to sell the moment.
