7. Thanos Originally Decapitated 2012 Captain America

Markus reveals that there was an extremely disturbing concept for Thanos' final battle against The Avengers, where he opened up a large portal on the battlefield in order to travel to 2023, and threw the decapitated head of 2012 Captain America at the heroes' feet.

For obvious reasons the beat was scrapped, but the fact that the writers were even considering it as a possibility in the PG-13 landscape of Marvel blockbusters is insane.

Even if they'd been given the green light from Kevin Feige to go ahead with it, the rating issue likely would've resulted in Cap's severed head being awkwardly obscured to save younger viewers nightmares (and prevent a strict dressing-down from the MPAA).
