Avengers: Endgame - 6 Big Ways The Trailer Could Be Lying To You

4. That Shuri Hologram Could Be Deliberate Misdirection

Earlier this year, actress Angela Bassett - who plays Ramonda, mother of T'Challa and Shuri - told Screen Rant that she and her daughter both survived the snap. But interestingly, when HuffPost asked Infinity War and Endgame directors the Russo Brothers about Shuri's fate, they remained tight-lipped, only mentioning that it would be a "spoiler" to discuss whether she survived or not.

So what's going on here? Was Bassett just assuming? Was she just misinformed? Or was she correct, but revealed information that Marvel and the Russo Brothers didn't want people to know?

If that last option is true - and we are to believe Bassett - then Shuri's "missing" hologram in the Endgame trailer could have been put there to make her fate more ambiguous, and to throw fans off the scent. Those holograms look easy to manipulate with some quick visual effects work (even easier than removing Thor's eye), and realistically, absolutely anybody's face could appear on them in the final film.

Even characters like Tony, Clint (from Banner's perspective, he's still missing) and Strange could be the faces we see instead. Not that this would be an important piece of misdirection or anything, but it's just one way that Marvel could have easily altered the visuals in the trailer.
