5. Akihiko

Ahead of the movie's release, you wouldn't have known the name Akihiko, who is played by Hiroyuki Sanada, but he's a hugely important plot point all the same because of what he represents to Clint Barton.

In the five years since the Decimation, it turns out that Hakweye has taken on his darker Ronin guise and has been cleaning up crime syndicates who survived as a means of redressing the balance and honouring the innocents who were killed in place of the bad guys.

The first we hear of it is Rhodey reporting the bloody massacre of a Mexican drug cartel and then eventually we get to see Ronin in action as he chases the Yakuza in search of boss Akihiko. Naturally, he catches him and cuts him down, offering his explanation (and his entire motivation for being Ronin) despite the mob boss pleading for his life. It's the perfect moment for announcing just how different this Barton is.
