Avengers: Endgame - Everything You Need To Know About Black Knight

3. Where The Endgame Rumours Have Come From

One of the more interesting things to note about this Black Knight rumours isn't just that they've emerged pretty much out of the blue, but also because the character isn't really one you'd associate with Thanos, the Infinity Stones, and a film that's set to close the book on the MCU's oldest heroes.

He's certainly more supernatural than cosmic, and though the same principle applies to Doctor Strange, that particular character has been rolling with the Avengers for literal decades, and was heavily involved in the fight to take down Thanos back during the original Infinity Saga in the early nineties.

Endgame has a monumental task ahead, with the film certain to not only resolve Infinity War's cliffhanger ending, but also to close the book on several key Marvel characters too, including the likes of Iron Man and Captain America - all that while also laying the groundwork for Phase 4, which is widely expected to be the MCU's most unique yet.

It is perhaps that last aspect that fans are most intrigued by, and this is where Black Knight is set to come in. Just before the New Year, Jeremy Conrad claimed on Twitter that "Marvel does have a plan for [Black Knight], and they already know how he'll be introduced," intimating that the character could yet take a key role in the franchise's coming years.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
