Avengers: Endgame - How Every Main Character Will Be Totally Different

Then

After being driven underground at the end of Civil War in the wake of the Raft break-out, the bearded Steve Rogers headed up the Secret Avengers in his new-look darker outfit, referred to by fans of the comics as his "Nomad" battle armour.

Fundamentally, that new, more subtle look was designed to draw a line under his patriotic Captain America identity and establish him as something different. Something more functional.

Now

Cap is back. If the clean-shaven look wasn't enough of a hint for you, the Super Bowl spot for Endgame revealed that he's getting his shield back. He's also turned his back on the more understated "Nomad" costume in favour of his older outfit as a symbolic sign of him re-embracing his role.

Cap will also be going through therapy to deal with the loss of his friends, by the look of the Super Bowl teaser, which is an interesting point for his arc more generally, because he's never really allowed himself to mourn the other friends he lost when he was frozen. Could that be the key to his mentality changing on the value of trading lives? Could it also be what drives him to ultimately sacrifice himself for the greater good, as he feels more drawn back to his own time?
