Avengers: Infinity War - 10 Characters That Might Beat Thanos
10. Odinforce Empowered Thor
Even without the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos is still leagues above Thor and the rest of the Avengers when it comes to his strength. With that in mind, one of the select few people in the Cinematic Universe who could go toe to toe with him and live would be Thor's father, Odin. While the films haven't really touched upon just what Odin is capable of, what little they have shown of his abilities is more than enough to cement himself as hands down the most powerful entity capable of fighting Thanos at this time. With a wave of his hand he can decide who lifts Mjolnir or strip people of their powers completely. Even in an extremely weakened state he successfully defended himself from the Frost Giant's attacks just by lifting his spear. This is due in part to his connection to a power known as the Odinforce, a magical energy that makes him nigh invincible and capable of impossible feats such as opening portals to other realms without the need for the Bifrost. As you've likely noticed from the Thor movies however, Asgard gets ransacked constantly without Odin so much as lifting a finger to protect his kingdom. This is because the Odinforce comes with a drawback. From time to time, Odin is forced to enter a deep sleep for weeks at a stretch to regain his powers. During these rests he is mortal, extremely vulnerable to any attacks and unable to defend his kingdom from attack. At the end of Thor: The Dark World, it would appear that Odin has possibly been killed or incapacitated by Loki in some way during his sleep. With Odin out of the way, the Odinforce will be free to pass onto someone else. Of course that someone else will likely be Thor in his next film as the events of Ragnarok unfold. This is where the extent of the Odinforce will likely be shown to prepare for Thor's power up in Avengers: Infinity Wars. To put into words what an Odinforce empowered Thor can do, in the comics Thor was shown being able to completely rebuild Asgard and revive everyone who died during Ragnarok and an Odinforced empowered Thor has also been shown capable of completely stopping time during fights. Of course even with the Odinforce, Thor won't be able to stand against Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet.
Any time I'm not writing, I'm likely arguing about children's cartoons with strangers on the internet or staring at my ceiling and wondering where it all went wrong.
