Avengers: Infinity War - 10 Characters That Might Beat Thanos
8. The Celestials
If you had told anyone five years ago that the Celestials would be making appearances in Marvel's movie universe, they wouldn't have believed you. Personally, I had figured that the movie going audience wouldn't be able to take giant cosmic beings that were millions of years old and capable of burning entire planets to their cores seriously in a film series that almost exclusively dealt with threats like arms dealers and scientists gone mad with power, yet here we are. With the release of Guardians of the Galaxy, the Celestials have actually been given an in to join the fray at some point in the future, and the prospects are incredibly exciting. If they are the ones who will bring down Thanos in the end, I don't see them appearing until after the battle is over though. You can't have giant faceless monsters be the movie's big heroes after setting up their main characters for over a decade. Instead they might appear as just one big middle finger to Earth's mightiest heroes to let them know that everything Thanos had pulled was the least of their problems as they relinquish the infinity stones from whoever has them by the end. If I'm wrong and the Celestials do appear to take on a Thanos powered by the Infinity Gauntlet in the middle of the action, then be prepared to see a bunch of Celestials job to him and litter the Earth with their big budget corpses. We've already seen that Celestials can die thanks to the scene of Knowhere in GotG, and we know that they're obscenely powerful as well from the recording the Collector had of a single Celestial leveling a planet, so It would be a great way to display Thanos's power to audiences by having the movie's first half end with him nonchalantly dropping beings that are essentially Gods onto the Avengers heads just to show that he can.
Any time I'm not writing, I'm likely arguing about children's cartoons with strangers on the internet or staring at my ceiling and wondering where it all went wrong.
