Avengers: Infinity War - 10 Characters That Might Beat Thanos

7. Ant-Man

We've discussed fully-powered Gods, reality warping witches and cosmic level aliens as possible candidates for the job of defeating Thanos, so it might seem kind of silly to include the safe cracking Paul Rudd on this list, but hear me out. Ant-Man is hands down my top pick as the character most likely to save the day during the events of Infinity War, and there are actually multiple reasons why. Watching Thanos getting swarmed by millions of ants at the climax of the film would certainly be funny, but it isn't one of the reasons why I think Ant-Man will be the one to defeat a nearly omnipotent villain bent on destroying reality. It does have something to do with his ability to shrink, however. In Ant-Man's first solo film, we saw him shrink himself down so small that he slipped out of reality and entered the Quantum Realm, an alternate reality where the fundamental laws of our Universe do not apply. This is a big deal as one of the Infinity Gauntlet's biggest flaws is that its powers only work in the Universe it was made in. A fully powered Thanos could theoretically be stopped if Ant-Man can manage to shrink him down small enough to slip into the Quantum Realm, where he would be powerless to escape. An even sillier theory would be that a microscopic Ant-Man could get into the Infinity Gauntlet and dislodge the stones during the battle, sapping the glove of its strength. While not as exciting as exiling the Mad Titan to another dimension, it is something that just might happen. The final possibility only works if Ant-Man defeated Yellow Jacket at the climax of his first film by turning him into a black hole. It certainly looked that way: bydestroying Yellow Jacket's suit, he couldn't control his shrinking ability and his mass was pulled into itself until all that remained of him was a small spark of light. So, if Ant-Man can create black holes, then it might just be enough to stop Thanos before he ends the Universe, though it is unlikely they go this route seeing as they kind of glossed over the whole thing in the movie.
