8. Silver Surfer Didn't Make An Appearance

Sparked by the potential acquisition of Fox by Disney, in the march to IW a lot of fans half-expected Marvel to tease the likes of the X-Men and Fantastic 4 eventually joining the world of The Avengers.

While cameos from those cross-brand characters always seemed like nothing more than a pipe-dream though, the appearance of one of Fox's heroes did seem at least semi-plausible. With the cosmic threat of Thanos far outmatching the comparatively weak might of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Silver Surfer was rumoured to be an integral part of dealing with the reality-altering threat Infinity War's villain posed.

And hey, why could't that happen? If Marvel could swing a deal with a rival company to secure Spider-Man, then surely they could hash something out with Fox to include a character they'll probably end up owning anyway.

It wasn't to be though, which makes sense considering the rumour initially spread from a cast list that anyone with an internet access could have altered.
