Avengers: Infinity War - 10 Tricks Marvel Pulled On The Fans

5. Ant-Man's Omission

Ant-Man's Infinity War absence was just as conspicuous as Hawkeye's. After fighting on Team Cap in Civil War, Scott Lang was widely expected to join up with the other heroes when Thanos and the Black Order arrived on the scene.

There was compelling evidence to suggest Paul Rudd's shrinking superhero would be among the cast. Rudd had been spotted on set with Benedict Cumberbatch last summer, and the fact Ant-Man and the Wasp was slated to fall between the two Avengers films seemed to suggest Lang's story arc could bridge the movies.

Identical to the Hawkeye situation, everyone just assumed Ant-Man would be part of Infinity War, and Marvel did nothing to quash the speculation.

With the benefit of hindsight, it's now obvious that the set leaks featuring Rudd were from the production of Avengers 4, which Lang will definitely be a part of.

As for Ant-Man and the Wasp, it seems the sequel will pick up after Civil War and reveal what Lang was up to during Infinity War. Perhaps it will run up to Thanos's finger snap and detail how the protagonists join up with the surviving Avengers.
