Avengers: Infinity War - 10 Tricks Marvel Pulled On The Fans

4. Uncredited Actors

There are many reasons why actors might not be credited for a film they've appeared in, though in the case of Avengers: Infinity War, two familiar names were kept off the roster to avoid spoiling the post-credits stinger.

Those names were Samuel L Jackson and Cobie Smulders - who play SHIELD duo Nick Fury and Maria Hill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - two characters the fans were misled into believing had been benched for the big crossover.

Jackson, at one point, came out and said in an interview with Yahoo! that he would not be appearing in either Infinity War or Avengers 4, and he sounded miffed about it.

“I wasn’t in the ‘superhero argument’ movie [Captain America: Civil War], I’m not in Avengers 3 and 4. They’re shooting them now, and they haven’t called me yet. They wouldn’t let me go to Black Panther-ville, so it’s kinda like how you gonna make a black Marvel movie and not let Nick Fury show up in it?"

Obviously, Marvel did pick up the phone after that interview was conducted and enlisted Jackson's services for what could prove to be a pivotal cameo after the credits, but they kept his and Smulders's involvement mighty quiet pre-release.
