9. Crossbones
Most fans of the MCU know Brock Rumlow as the leader of S.T.R.I.K.E. in the Winter Soldier. Like many S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives, Rumlow (played by Frank Grillo) was revealed to be a Hydra agent. He was last seen severely burnt, but still alive, at the end of the film. Marvel comics, meanwhile, introduced Brock Rumlow as an agent of the Red Skull who operated under the codename Crossbones. The character is generally remembered by comic fans as the man who assassinated Captain America in the Civil Wars comic. Frank Grillo has already been confirmed to reprise his role in the upcoming Civil War movie, where he will take on the mantle of Crossbones. This has led to widespread speculation that the film, like the comic it is based on, will end with the death of Captain America. As this is likely to happen at the end of the film, if it happens at all, Marvel have understandably been keeping quiet about Crossbone's role. If Crossbones does kill Captain America at the end of next year's Civil War there's a chance that he'll still be running around at the start of Infinity War. In fact, the film could open with various members of the Avengers, such as Black Widow and Falcon, hunting him down. The Avengers are likely to still be divided after the events of the Civil War film, so a shared hatred of Crossbones could be one of the things that helps draw them together ahead of Thanos' invasion.
