4. Ultron
Like Thanos and the Collector, Ultron is a long-time villain of the Avengers in the comics. First introduced in the 1960s, Ultron was a founding member of the Masters of Evil, a villain in the original Secret Wars, and has nearly conquered or destroyed the Earth on dozens of occasions. To date, the character has gone through twenty different incarnations, and has been responsible for the creation of other robot and cyborg characters including the Vision, Jocasta, and Victor Mancha. Because of his long comic book history many fans were disappointed that the robot supervillain seems to have been reduced to a one-off character by the plot of Age of Ultron. The Vision made it clear when he killed Ultron at the end of the film that there was no way for the villain to return. He had already forced Ultron's mind out of the internet, and the rest of his robot bodies had been destroyed by the other Avengers. So Ultron is dead, right? Except that the Vision himself began as an Ultron body, intended as the villain's most powerful- and final- incarnation. Although most of the Vision's personality is based on J.A.R.V.I.S., we know that Ultron was at least successful in uploading part of his mind into the Vision's body before losing it to the Avengers. So far, we don't know what would happen if Thanos manages to remove the Mind Gem from the Vision's forehead. One possibility is that it would result in the latent Ultron persona surfacing. While this new Ultron could potentially side with Thanos, there is a chance that he could turn against both the Mad Titan and the Avengers.
