Avengers: Infinity War - 12 Plot Twists No One Will See Coming
8. Thanos Ends Reality
For all of the talk of Thanos' threat to the universe, the potential devastation at the heart of Infinity War has to be tempered by the fact that the MCU so far has pulled back on killing too many characters, and has limited a good deal of its deaths (aside from villains and collateral damage) to Disney deaths that don't last.
How exactly do you reconcile that with the idea of Thanos getting his hands on the most fearsome, devastating weapon in the history of the universe and following the comic book source by wiping out half of existence and killing off most of the superheroes who remain? The over-riding expectation suggests you simply don't: there's no way Thanos can win or even get close to winning.
And because it seems most logical that Thanos will fail to unite all of the Stones and get to click his fingers so devastatingly, the idea of it actually happening that way is the ultimate game-changer. Just imagine how deflated and elated everyone will be if the end of Infinity War genuinely sees him wiping out half of existence, killing multiple established heroes in one swoop and challenging the others to best him in battle... It's scarily exciting.
