Avengers: Infinity War - 14 Things You Probably Didn't Notice
5. Groot's Loophole
While Rocket's devastation at teenage Groot's death is one of the most heartbreaking moments of the entire movie - hell, the entire MCU to date, in fact - he needn't be completely sure that he won't get another Groot companion because there's a loophole for Groot to come back.
When Eitri forges Stormbreaker on Nidavellir, Groot lends part of his arm as the handle when they're desperately looking for a means to revive Thor with the weapon. And when Groot fades after the snap, the handle remains, which makes sense as it's no longer part of Groot (Bucky's arm might be inanimate but it's part of him so it fades with him, likewise Falcon's wingsuit).
But doesn't that mean that Rocket could simply take part of the handle back and plant it as he did with the pieces of Groot that were left after he was killed at the end of the first Guardians movie? Sure it wouldn't be the SAME Groot (as James Gunn has confirmed), but it would be a replacement.
