11. Thanos

Last Time

Though everyone seems to cower in his presence, all we've really seen of the Mad Titan so far is him sitting around letting his minions do his bidding. Poorly. Sure, we know he has a reputation and Nebula's augmentations speak of his cruelty, but he's done nothing at all to suggest he's even that powerful. Hell, he gave one of the Infinity Stones he was looking for away to Loki without realising it.

And as of his first appearance, it was assumed that he was "courting death", as in the comics, as his reason for looking to unify the Infinity Stones.

Now

Now, we're going to see him doing more than sitting in his big gold flying chair, basically. He's vowed to "do it himself" and he's actually going to achieve some of his aim pretty quickly, getting at least two Infinity Stones fairly early on.

Plus, we now know his real motivation (which has seemingly changed) - he wants to rebalance the universe to save it from itself. So rather than just being a sadistic villain with superiority issues, he actually believes what he's doing is right. Not only is that a big change, it's a really positive one.
