In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, Nebula got over her issues with her sister - after some serious rough-housing - and though she was offered a chance to join the Guardians after helping defeat Ego, she turned it down to go it alone.

She's still the hot-headed, angry victim she was in both Guardians movies, but her motivations are now different...

Now

Having forgiven her sister, Nebula has a one track mind to kill her "father" Thanos, to make him pay for the torture he put her through when she and Gamora were growing up in his care. And while she'll start off as a loner, Karen Gillan has hinted that she ends up teaming up with another, unexpected character with fun results. Which doesn't sound at all like the old Nebula.

Unfortunately, because of the rules of emotional stakes, either she of Gamora is probably going to die.
