Last Time

Having been introduced in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man was fleshed out considerably in Homecoming, but it very much built on the elements of his debut. He's cocky, witty and only just coming to terms with his powers, while also suffering all of the awkwardness of teenage development.

He was also offered the chance to become an Avenger by Tony Stark - complete with a new shiny suit - but turned it down, believing he wasn't ready and stuck with his first Stark-made suit. Judging by the issues he suffered as a fledgling hero, he was right about not being ready.

Now

Well, pretty quickly into the film, Spidey is getting that suit he turned down and it's got lots of new toys to play with, including four robotic arms inspired by the Iron Spider suit Stark gave him in the Civil War comic. The marketing has even suggested that Peter Parker goes by the name Iron Spider in the movie.

And beyond his suit, it seems he also becomes a legitimate Avenger - at least temporarily - teaming up with Tony Stark and Doctor Strange to help save the Sanctum Sanctorum and then heading out to space to meet the Guardians and Thor. According to Robert Downey Jr he's now "firing on all cylinders".

Don't expect his attitude to change though.
