2. And He Isn't THAT Powerful

Steve Rogers is a super-soldier with a Hulk-sized heart, but he's not even close to being the most powerful superhero around. His shield and sheer willpower and durability make up for a lot of that, but in pure power terms he isn't up there with the likes of Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Thor.

Or, for that matter, a Thanos who possesses FOUR Infinity Stones. That's not a slight on Cap, because few characters would be, but they're not all charging at him head on.

There's surely got to be a big death on Wakanda, and Cap dying would make a major statement for Thanos, be a massive job, and tragically fit his arc while devastating viewers. But also, quite simply, he'd be easier for the Mad Titan to kill than many of the others.
