Avengers: Infinity War - 8 Compelling Hints Iron Man Will Die (& 4 He Won't)

6. It's More Surprising Than Any Other Death

From almost the moment Captain America: Civil War was announced, Captain America has had a target on his forehead because of the way the comic story played out. His death is inevitable, just as Vision's fate is likely to be the same, given that he has an Infinity Stone in the middle of his forehead, and the other "major deaths" look pretty obvious too - the likes of War Machine, Falcon, The Collector, Loki and even Black Widow are all looking decidedly under threat.

But since when was the MCU this obvious? The first Avengers set up Iron Man's death only for him to survive, Avengers: Age Of Ultron made Hawkeye look like dead-meat only to kill someone else and Civil War was DEFINITELY going to kill Cap until it didn't. For all of the accusations of paint-by-numbers film-making from cynics, the franchise simply isn't that predictable and throwing in a spanner to the works like Iron Man's death instead of someone more obvious would be very fitting.

And just look at the way the marketing is being shaped currently, with the Russos doing their level best to warn us of surprises and devastating shocks. They WANT us to know this isn't going to go the way we all expect, and that could easily spell disaster for Tony.
