Though she's very much recognisable thanks to being played by How I Met Your Mother's Cobie Smulders, Maria Hill has had very little to do as a glorified right-hand woman to Nick Fury.

Even Agent Coulson couldn't manage a full-screen comeback despite his resurrection being a throughline plot of Agents of Shield, and honestly, it could just go either way.

Either Maria is a "staple" of Shield alongside Fury, or post-Winter Soldier we continue with this more "fractured" version of the agency that thrives in smaller numbers.
