8. Captain America Was Originally Going To Be The Soul Stone
Here's a weird one for you!
In the build up to the release of Avengers: Infinity War, fans theorised that Asgardian hero Heimdall was to be revealed as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Soul Stone. That didn't come to pass, and the character - played by Idris Elba - ended up being killed off by Thanos fairly early on.
During their live commentary, the Russo Brothers revealed an alternate idea for the Soul Stone which they had early on in production: it was going to be Captain America! "Early on in development talks we considered making Cap the Soul Stone," they explained. "But that idea fell away rather quickly."
It's easy to see why, but something tells us that someone who is truly pure of heart was capable of becoming the Soul Stone, and that certainly sounds like Cap. However, we're guessing it would have meant killing him, so revealing that he was worthy of wielding Thor's hammer Mjolnir was no doubt a far more effective way of confirming that Steve Rogers is one of the MCU's greatest superheroes!
