Being appointed to her new position in social outreach at the Wakandan International Outreach Center in Oakland, California. Since she was on the other side of the States to New York she wouldn't have been aware of the invasion immediately (plus it wasn't her fight), so she didn't turn up then.

More strangely though, you would have thought she'd have answered T'Challa's call for help in Wakanda. Then again, perhaps there was limited time to get her there and she was too busy in her day job?

Will She Be Back?

Assuming she wasn't killed off by the snap, there's no way a Wakandan wouldn't return to the motherland in the wake of T'Challa's death. Her people need her as one of its strongest warriors at its weakest time so expect her to be involved in whatever Wakandan sequences we see (it might not actually be all that much).
