2. It's At The Centre Of Wakanda's Vibranium Mine

When every MCU movie prior to Infinity War aside from Black Panther was released without so much as a hint of the presence of the Soul Stone, it suddenly felt very likely that it was going to be in Wakanda.

The theory here is that the Stone lies at the heart of the Vibranium meteor that hit the country in the past and imbued the ground with the powers of the Heart-Shaped Herb. After all, the ability to converse with souls - as part of the Black Panther ritual - is very much on-brand for the Stone.

And just because it didn't get confirmed in Ryan Coogler's movie, that doesn't mean it can't still be explained that way in Infinity War. Especially with so much of the action taking place there in the third act.

This is the most logical in terms of how the MCU has framed the other Stones - with a secret ancient power powering some other seemingly magic power source. Coogler might said that wasn't the plan, but that's exactly what he WOULD say, isn't it?
