Avengers: Infinity War Theory - Does Doctor Strange Turn Against The Avengers?
1. Could Strange Be Turned Against His New Team-Mates?
In Infinity, Ebony Maw's manipulation of Strange extends to him turning against the other Avengers: he basically weaponises him against his allies and that could spell danger for the heroes, given how powerful Strange is.
The difference between the movie and the comic could actually signal that their stories will develop the same way for Strange. Because there's no way Ebony Maw is torturing Strange to find out where the Time Stone is (it's round his neck, after all), he has to be manipulating him to another end and not merely to incapacitate him. To do that, he'd do something more fatal with Strange's own powers - the implication of torture is a longer-term agenda.
And it would definitely fit that Maw would use someone more useful in battle against powerful allies of Strange's who we know are with him. Namely, Iron Man and Spider-Man. Sure, it might not last (and it seems Strange is recovered by the time the trio get to Titan), but don't be surprised at all if we see him temporarily used as a weapon against his friends.
It's not like it would be the first time it'd happened in the MCU. Just ask Hawkeye and Hulk.
